Project details
Urban fantasy author Marta Acosta is best known for her comic adult novels. Her latest work was an altogether more serious story – a gothic mystery/romance aimed at the YA market. Despairing of ever getting the fully written book published, she made the manuscript available to readers as a free read on Scribd. I made an advert to promote the book download on the Love Vampires website and Marta liked the visual so much she asked for a book cover to be designed for the e-book on Scribd.
Shadow Girl became the number one download on Scribd for YA fiction with over 26,000 downloads. It was quickly sold to TOR and the author credits the vast number of Scribd downloads as one of the factors in the sale.
